7. It’s not top of mind or a priority for us Fast, pray, and meditate on the scriptures to renew your mindset

***We need to pray for (or draw from) our own personal experience with God, like the one Saul had on the road to Damascus
— (Acts 9:1-6)

***We need to make a personal commitment to sharing the gospel as we have received it
— (Acts 9:20)

PARENT/GUARDIAN SESSION

FOR PARENTS — Saturday, September 16th, 2023

1. BE PRESENT & EMPOWER OUR YOUTH!
> Introduce yourself to the teachers as Christian parents who are interested in your child’s education (both parents where possible)
> Be proactive in asking for updates from teachers, which will send the message that you are engaged and involved
> Parental presence, or the lack thereof, impacts the way that a teacher treats a child in the classroom

> Tell your child everyday that they are fearfully and wonderfully made by God, and can do all things through Christ
> Use the scriptures to build CONFIDENT youth who have a strong mental fortitude towards success
> Children are proven to perform 10x better at anything when they are encouraged and feel supported

> Ask the school for a copy of their human rights policy and procedures
> We are protected under religious grounds and our sincerely held beliefs and practices must be accommodated for
> NO SINGLE RIGHT TAKES PRECEDENT OVER ANOTHER RIGHT IN THE HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY
> Any action that discriminates against our deeply held practices & beliefs are strictly prohibited
> Check the content of your childs work to ensure they are not participating in and/or learning what they shouldn’t be

2. HAVE THE DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS!
> Below is a list of the major shifts in the public school that that require parental involvement to properly equip our youth;
> the content within their curriculum (what is appropriate and what is not appropriate)
> the impact of the LQBTQ2+ community
> the changes to the public washroom signage and rules
> the usage of personal pro-nouns
> the bullying policies

> Use the word of God to help navigate these difficult conversations
> if ever there was a time to teach your children the word of God, it is certainly right now
> Whenever our youth are being discriminated against, the school has an obligation to make any/all necessary accommodations
> this will only happen if we know our rights and seek to see them enforced through a non-confrontational but resolute spirit
