What is Baptism?
Baptism is a sacred and essential step in the Christian journey, representing a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. It is not just a symbolic act but a vital part of salvation, following the command of Jesus Christ Himself.
The term “baptize” comes from the Greek word baptismos, which means to “plunge” or “immerse.” This definition clarifies that baptism involves full immersion under water, not merely sprinkling. The act of being fully submerged in water symbolizes the burial of our old life and the beginning of a new life in Christ.
In Acts 2:38, the Apostle Peter preached, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Baptism must be done in the name of Jesus Christ, as it is through His name that we receive forgiveness and are cleansed from our sins.
In John 3:5, Jesus is in a deep conversation with Nicodemus, a Pharisee. Nicodemus questioned Jesus about His works, and Jesus answered by referring to the Kingdom: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water (referring to water baptism) and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” Jesus clearly emphasized the necessity of water baptism for entrance into the Kingdom of God.
Why Baptism in Jesus' Name?
The name of Jesus carries the authority and power for the remission of sins. We baptize exclusively in Jesus’ Name, following the examples set in the Bible. Scriptures such as Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, and Acts 19:5 consistently show the Apostles baptizing new believers in the name of Jesus. This practice affirms our commitment to the teachings of the early church and acknowledges the power of Jesus’ Name in the salvation process.
Re-baptism in the Bible
The practice of re-baptism is also found in the Bible. In Acts 19:1-6, the Apostle Paul encounters a group of believers in Ephesus who had been baptized in John’s baptism. When Paul explains the significance of baptism in Jesus’ Name, they choose to be re-baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. This shows that even those who have been baptized using a different method, need to be re-baptized in Jesus’ Name, aligning their faith with the full revelation of Jesus Christ.

Our Baby Dedication service is a beautiful and sacred moment where we join together in prayer, asking God’s blessings, guidance, and protection over your child or children.
Typically, dedications happen during your child’s infant stage, but there is no set age requirement. Whether your child is an infant or older, we welcome you to take this step of faith with us.
The dedication takes place after our Sunday morning worship service in the sanctuary and includes a heartfelt prayer from our leadership team as we commit your child to the Lord’s care and purposes.
