Privacy Policy

1. Objective

This policy applies to all processing of personal data carried out by the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Pickering (APC). Its objective is to inform users about how APC processes personal data, including the types of personal data collected, the purposes of processing, and the rights of users in relation to their personal data.

3. Processing Identification – How do we collect personal data?

In compliance with current regulations on the protection of personal data, especially Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) & Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), APC collects personal data in its possession when the user:

(i). Completes the forms on the APC website (https://apcpickering.com);
(ii). Subscribes to the newsletter;
(iii). Answers a poll or completes a web form;
(iv). Completes a printed form;
(v). Sends an email or communicates by phone, which are then loaded into the corresponding forms.

4. Personal Data Collected – What personal data do we collect?

APC collects information when you visit our web page, primarily through the completion of its registration forms. The following data may be collected: full name, email, phone number, and gender.

Providing personal data to access certain services or content may not always be mandatory, except in cases where it is specifically indicated as necessary for the provision of the service. The user can freely choose not to register and/or not to contract the services.

The user declares and guarantees that all data provided by them are true and correct and undertakes to keep them updated. Changes may be communicated to APC via the contact information listed in Section 2 hereof.

APC acknowledges that the data required are necessary, adequate, and not excessive for the purposes expressed in Section 5 hereof, which would be impossible to fulfill if such data were not provided.

Any false or inaccurate statements that result from the information and data given, as well as any damages that such information may cause, will be the responsibility of the user.

4. Purpose – What do we use personal data for?

The personal data requested from the user will be used for the following purposes:

  • Service Provision: To provide and maintain our services, fulfill your requests, communicate with you about your use of our services or changes to our services, respond to your inquiries, and for other customer service and administrative purposes. For example, when you subscribe to our newsletter, we may use your personal information to deliver that newsletter to you.
  • Identification and Authentication: We may use your information for identification and authentication purposes.
  • Personalization: To tailor content and information that we may send or display to you, offer location customization, and provide personalized help and instructions.

Users can opt out of receiving commercial communications from APC by following the unsubscribe instructions at the end of each email or by contacting APC through the details listed in Section 2.

5. How do we use your information?

We will use the information we collect about you for the following purposes:

  • Administration
  • Managing customer orders
  • Support
  • Dispute resolution
  • Managing user accounts

If we want to use your information for any other purpose, we will ask for your consent and only use your information for the purpose(s) for which consent was granted, unless required by law.

We will retain your personal information for an unspecified amount of time after user accounts remain idle or as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, as detailed in this Privacy Policy.

6. Consent

By providing personal data to APC, the user declares to accept its processing fully and without reservation by APC. The user gives their free, express, and informed consent to APC’s use of the data collected for the purposes indicated in Section 5 and its incorporation into an APC database.

APC processes the user data based on: (i) the contracting of APC services by the user, as per the terms and conditions available at the end of the service request form, which the user can accept by ticking the relevant box; and (ii) the free, informed, and unambiguous consent of the user after reviewing this privacy policy.

7. Validity – How long do we keep it?

The data will be destroyed or archived when it is no longer necessary or relevant for the purposes described in Section 5. Personal data will be retained for as long as the user relationship is in force and as long as obligations, indemnities, and/or liabilities may arise under the business relationship.

APC informs you that it will retain essential information to identify the origin of the data stored for the duration of the user’s relationship with APC and/or as required by applicable law.

8. Confidentiality / Assignment / International Transfer – Do we disclose data to third parties?

APC will keep collected personal data private and confidential and will not use it for purposes other than those set out in Section 5 hereof. APC requires its employees and third parties providing services that access the contents of the databases to sign confidentiality and personal data processing agreements.

The user’s personal data collected by APC will not be transferred, sold, exchanged, transmitted, and/or communicated to third parties outside APC without the user’s consent, except for legal obligations and/or for the purpose of providing the services to the user.

APC may share the personal information provided with parent organizations, affiliates, subsidiaries, related organizations, and/or intermediaries related to APC.

APC may also share certain user-provided personal information internally within APC with certain departments, such as administration, marketing, or IT.

In some cases, APC transfers personal data based on legitimate interest and the advantages associated with the use of specialized providers. For example:

  • Social Networks: APC uses social networks such as Facebook and Instagram and has integrated their functions into its services. The user may only use these social networks to the extent that they are registered in them and have accessed the corresponding social network with their user credentials. These social networks have their own privacy policies and terms and conditions.

9. Donations

APC is an Ontario-registered Non-Profit Organization, Charitable #804044220R70001. Donations can be made through the APC website (https://apcpickering.com/give/), and tax receipts are issued for all eligible donations. APC handles donation-related personal data in compliance with applicable laws, ensuring that donor information is kept secure and confidential.
